While the posthumous reports on Michael Jackson have downward-spiraled out of control a month after his death, a bunch of Twin Cities R&B musicians will rise to the occasion and remind local fans of the singer's musical legacy.

Members of Mint Condition, the Steeles, Greazy Meal, the New Congress, Jay Bee & the Routine and others have signed on for "Michael Jackson: A Tribute to the Life & Music of the King of Pop," an Aug. 21 concert at the Cabooze in Minneapolis.

Tickets are on sale for $10 at Cabooze outlets (www. Cabooze.com).

"It seems like a natural thing to do," Mint Condition singer/drummer Stokley Williams said.

The show will feature songs from all eras of Jackson's career, starting with his Jackson 5 hits.

It will not, however, feature any cheesy impersonators, although a white glove or two might show up on stage.

The Cabooze, 917 Cedar Av. S., also happens to be the site of Tina Schlieske's popular annual tribute to Elvis Presley this Saturday.

The club also has a country music festival on the calendar for Aug. 21, but that's taking place on its outdoor stage.
