The entire show was UNBELIEVABLE! First off, I have to shout out sista4life, Starbrite, for the wonderful time (as always) and fellow mint fans (Tonya/Ohio where ya at?!, Mr Mint & his family (always coming through to support MC), Chris/Ms. Event Traveler, Angie & Tracy). I had a wonderful time last night--what a way to cap off a work day?! The weather was cool, the music was phenomenal and the fellas were on some serious A game!!!!
Before getting the evening festivities started, we grabbed a quick bite to eat (warning: Do not order the nachos appetizer at BB Kings unless you got an hour to eat it all....way too much food even for me and I can clean up at an all-you-eat buffet). We headed to the show and eventually took our spot at the front of the stage.
Tara Michel and her band stepped on to the stage. This woman is simply genuine in all that she does--singing, cracking up on stage and fellowshipping with her people on stage. She did a few songs real quick b/c like she said she's a Mint fan too (say what?! lol). If you don't know about Tara's music, please check her website at www.myspace.com/taramichelonline.
Next up was a band that left me SPEECHLESS! These two brothers, Just Live, were not on the bill but were added to it b/c of their special connection with Mint—they are from Minneapolis, (I think that) Jeff Taube (Mint's Mgr) manages them as well and they are just SUPERBAD! From the moment that they exploded onto the stage, it was heavy hitting music the entire time. Check them out at www.myspace.com/justlivehiphop (also get their 2007 release 'Moxy' which is also on ITUNES).
After the foundation was set and the instruments were ceremoniously warmed up, it was time for Mint to step in the building (well the stage). The crowd was so hyped up with anticipation to see our men of the evening do what they do when they do it! NYC always represents (with come sprinkles of out of town folks) for Mint Condition that's why the band loves coming to the Big Apple time and time again.
After calling out to MC, they appeared from the darkness. The crowd went wild and Stokley entered (stage left…lol). Oh my goodness!! Now don't ask me about the song list—even though Jeff T gave it out to a few of us and I memorized it on the spot…somebody even took notes and compared their song list to her ideal song list…wow…a true Mint head!). After the long night, I don't remember nothing!! lol What I do remember is that they played a mix of old and new songs…my all-time favs (What you bring to the party, Forever in your Eyes, PBE) and my new fav on ELife—so far (Gratitude). The fellas did their thing like they do every time. To top it all off after seeing an amazing performance, it was an absolute pleasure seeing Jeff and Stokely (they are always showing me love) and officially meeting Rick and Larry (O'Dell was MIA…hehe….surrounded by the ladies and fans).
If you have not been to a Mint show, go to their websites http://www.mintconditionmusic.com/ and www.myspace.com/mintconditionmusic) and check out a show this summer!! Next up is ATL followed by Amsterdam—yes the fellas are definitely going global this time around (again)!!
~Peace~
